Firecracker the Dog: Adopt Me!

This week's featured pet was tossed over the South Suburban Humane Society fence on the Fourth of July.

Meet Firecracker. He's a fully grown Terrier and Affenpinscher mix. While a little shy at first, Firecracker is very affectionate and would make a great dog for a family with older children. Already have a dog? No problem! Firecracker gets along with other dogs famously. Sadly, Firecracker was thrown over the South Subruban Humane Society fence on the Fourth of July. Luckily, Firecracker didn't get hurt in the process, and now he's temporarily in the care of the the folks at SSHS while waiting for someone to come and adopt him. To learn more about Firecracker, visit his listing on the South Suburban Humane Society's (SSHS) website! PLEASE VISIT THE SSHS LISTING IN OUR PATCH PLACES DIRECTORY

Oh, I hope you can - this little face is so adorable! Breaks my heart to think of what people do to animals but at least they "dropped" her where she would be taken care of vs some of the other horror stories you hear about.   more ›

Koko for Christmas: Adopt Me!

Why not consider the gift of adoption this holiday season?

Christmas is less than two weeks away. Instead of shelling out hundreds of dollars on the hottest new electronics, clothes and other material items that are likely to be outdated before winter's end, why not consider something with a little longer shelf-life: a new pet! This week's featured pet is appropriately named Koko, and she would make an amazing Christmas present for the whole family. Koko is a young adult female with lots of energy. After some exercise, however, the only thing she wants to do is cuddle in your lap. She could be the perfect first dog for a caring family. Koko has already been spayed and she is up-to-date on all of her vaccinations. If you are interested in learning more about Koko, visit her listing on the South …

Eleanor the Domestic Shorthair Munchkin: Adopt Me!

This week's pet of the week is Eleanor, our first "munchkin" feline.

Meet Eleanor, a 3-year-old domestic shorthair "munchkin." She is called this because of her short legs and long body. She is declawed, spayed and up-to-date on all of her shots. Eleanor has been at SSHS for three months now, and while she's enjoying her stay, she's excited to find a permanent residence.
