This week’s featured pet is a Dachshund named Latte.
Meet Latte. He’s a five-year-old chocolate colored Dachshund with an easygoing personality. Latte seems to get along well with other small dogs, but has some issues with stairs—so a ranch might be best for him. If you’re interested in learning more about Latte, check out his profile on the South Suburban Humane Society adoption page. We want to hear about your adopted pets. Join Chicago Heights Patch and let us know in the comments!

This week's featured pet is Schatzi, a five-year-old female shepherd mix.
Meet Schatzi. She's a beautiful five-year-old shepherd mix with a lot of love to give. Schatzi's previous owner kept her outdoors most or all of the time and, as a result, she's currently being treated for heart worm disease. She's expected to make a full recovery, though, and Schatzi would be elated to go home (and inside) with a caring new owner. Schatzi is available for adoption at the South Suburban Humane Society (SSHS). For more infirmation on the two dogs, check out the adoption page on the SSHS website. This week’s featured pet is Bear, a three-year-old Chow Chow mix.
Since Bear was found as a stray, little is known about his past. South Suburban Humane Society (SSHS) workers say Bear would do extremely well with a patient, caring family to help him get socialized. A family with older children would probably suit him best. Bear is extremely tidy, but since he is loaded with so much luxurious fur, he’ll need to be brushed weekly. If you’re interested in learning more about Bear, check out his listing on the SSHS website. PLEASE VISIT our Patch Places directory to learn more about the South Suburban Humane Society.

This week’s pet is Laila, a spayed female Beagle. She came into the shelter as a stray and had a cherry eye, which the shelter treated. Laila likes a lot of attention, especially belly rubs, and has plenty of energy. She is ideal for an owner looking for a lap dog, or a small to medium size dog. Laila is a little more than two years old. If you are interested in adopting Laila or another animal from the South Suburban Humane Society, check out their website or call them at 708-755-7387.
