Residents Show Off Cool Cars for Make-a-Wish Foundation: Photo Gallery

Sons of the American Legion Squadron 131 hosts a car show at the American Legion Post 131 in South Chicago Heights.

Low attendance at the American Legion car show on Saturday surprised the attendees that came to show off their vehicles. A small number of car owners came to show off their rides on a hot end of summer Saturday. Proceeds benefit the Make-A-Wish foundation. St. James Lets Heights Residents Show Off and Tear Up Cars: Photo Gallery

Over one hundred cars showed up to St. James Health Antique and Classic Car Show.

Hundreds of Chicago Heights residents turned out for the St. James Health and Antique Classic Car Show. From muscle cars to Model As the parking lot at WellGroup Medical Center in Chicago Heights was full of historical cars. "There are a lot of vintage machines with a whole lot of quality out here,"  says Joe Kleszcznski from Chicago Heights. Going down the rows of cars Chicago Heights residents commented on making this a permanent event. Alderman Josh Deabel was happy with the turnout. " I counted about 108 cars, this turned out better than I expected," he said. "This is a good thing for the city, we should do more shows like this." Prairie State College graduate Adriana Popovich recently was named the 2011 winner of the Dr. James H. Griffith Community Service Award at Prairie State College. The award is named after the former trustee, who served on the PSC Board of Trustees for 25 years.  It is intended to recognize a person or group at PSC who has contributed in an extraordinary way to the community.
