The home is sacred. Those who break in are not. Here's a roundup of recent home burglary reports from Chicago Heights.

SUNDAY, MAY 12 A 47-inch rental TV was taken from a home in the first block of Forest Avenue, according to a report. The owner left the house at about 8 a.m. and returned to find the TV missing from the upstairs bedroom. Police could not find any signs of forced entry. Neighbors said they did not notice anything suspicious. WEDNESAY, MAY 8 Police responded at about 1:29 a.m. to the 1100 block of Grant Avenue, according to a report. A window was shattered, allowing access to the basement. The victim looked through the house and could not find anything missing. Police were unable to speak with any neighbors. Burning Issues: Car Fires Afflict the Heights

Chicago Heights police reports, May 15-16.

THURSDAY, MAY 16 A fire started in the engine of a Buick LeSabre while it was at a mechanic, according to a report. Firefighters were called to put out the blaze in the in the 500 block of East 14th Street. The owner said he didn't know why the car caught fire and that he planned to sell it to the mechanic. TUESDAY, MAY 14 Police found a car fully engulfed in flames at about 2:44 a.m. in the 1500 block of Shields Avenue, according to a report. A driver noticed the car had a glow coming from inside and called 911. The owner of the car was awakened by a neighbor, who told him about the car fire. There's nothing more annoying than finding your car or truck busted up. Here's a roundup of recent vehicle-related burglaries and thefts in Chicago Heights.

May 15: The front windshield of a 2007 Pontiac G6 parked in the 1300 block of Otto Boulevard was damaged, according to a report. The owner had received threats from a suspect that morning. May 12: A wallet with $400 cash was stolen from a car parked in a driveway in the 100 block of Hildred Lane, according to a report. The owner believes the wallet was taken sometime between 8 p.m. May 11 and 8 a.m. May 12. May 8: A car owner found a small dent in the front, driver's side quarter panel of his 2011 Chevrolet HHR, according to a report. It was parked in the first block of West 19th Street. The owner believes the damage was done sometime on May 7 or May 8. May 7: A portable DVD player, valued at $120, and some change was stolen from a car …

1 Dead in Weekend Liquor Store Shooting; Police Investigating Witness Accounts

No arrests have been made in the Friday night shooting outside K & N Liquors in Chicago Heights. One man was killed and two others were treated for leg wounds.

Police continue to search for information about a shooting Friday night outside of a Chicago Heights liquor store in which one man was killed and two others were wounded. Joshua Garcia, 18, of South Chicago Heights, was pronounced dead after he was taken to St. James Hospital, police said. The two other men were treated for gunshot wounds to the legs. Investigators have interviewed several witnesses and are looking for more to piece together what happened at about 9:12 p.m. outside K & N Liquors, 2301 Chicago Road, police said. No arrests have been made. The Chicago Heights Police Department Detective Division and the South Suburban Major Crime Task Force are working together on the investigation. Police Investigating Shooting Near Liquor Store

Gunshots were heard by neighbors near 23rd Street and Chicago Road in Chicago Heights late Friday night.

Chicago Heights police are investigating a shooting near the intersection of 23rd Street and Chicago Road. Officers taped off the parking lot near K&N Market and Wine, 2301 Chicago Rd. and had blocked the southbound lane of Chicago Road Friday night. Neighbors said they heard 4 or 5 loud gunshots after 9 p.m. Four ambulances were called for multiple gunshot victims, according to an unconfirmed report. Check back with Patch for more information. TUESDAY, MAY 7 Chicago Heights police responded to a burglar alarm at about 3:57 p.m. in the 400 block of East 22nd Street, according to a report. Officers found a rear porch door open and the door frame damaged. The alarm was shut off but the victim was unable to determine if anyone had broken into the apartment. Nothing was reported stolen. SUNDAY, MAY 5 Electronics, shoes and jewelry were reported stolen from an apartment in the 1600 block of Hanover Street, according to a report. The victim had locked the door to the entryway at about noon when he left. When he returned at 12:15 p.m., he found the door open and several rooms of the apartment ransacked. May 12: A woman smashed up a 2001 Buick car parked in the 600 block of West 16th Place, according to a report. A metal pipe was used to break the front and rear windshields and front and rear passenger windows. Also, both front tires were flattened. The victim refused to sign a complaint. May 11: A juvenile accidentally threw a rock through the rear window of a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am parked in the first block of Olympic Village, according to report. The entire window was smashed. Police were unable to locate the youth. May 10: A 1993 Cadillac de Ville caught fire in the 1700 block of East End Avenue, according to a report. Police said the car was unoccupied and unattended when it burned. Chicago Heights firefighters extinguished the blaze. …

First of all, why are you throwing rocks in the first place? They don't bounce, they are not perfectly shaped and if he was by himself, who would he be playing catch with? SUNDAY, APRIL 28 Thirty hydrocodone pills were stolen during a party at a home in the 200 block of East 24th Street, according to a report. The person who had the pills left them in the living room while she was in the bathroom and returned to find them gone. No arrests were reported. Christopher D. Radcliffe, 30, of the 20000 block of Monterey Avenue, Lynwood, was charged with battery, according to a report. The victim tried to break up a fight at about 12:45 a.m. when he was punched in the face. He didn't sustain any visible injuries and refused medical attention. Radcliffe is due on May 23 in Markham.
