ARREST WARRANTS: Wanted in Chicago Heights

There are warrants out for the arrest of more 690 accused criminals in the 60411 Chicago Heights zip code. Today, Patch spotlights a few.

James Abernathy, 50, is wanted for reckless driving. His last known address is in the 22400 block of Chappel Avenue. Bond was set at $5,000. Eduardo Aceves, 23, is wanted for driving under the influence of alcohol. His last known address is in the 100 block of E. 23rd Street. Bond was set at $25,000. Gennis C. Attempted Murder Charge for Area Man Accused of Stabbing His Mother

Authorities say Blake Springsteen of unincorporated Cook County beat and stabbed his mother before leaving her in a ditch in Crete. He is due in Chicago bond court Saturday.

An unincorporated Cook County man accused of stuffing his mother in a car trunk and stabbing her is expected to appear in a downtown Chicago bond court on Saturday. Blake Springsteen, 22, was charged with attempted murder on Friday. Cook County authorities allege Springsteen bound his mother, drove her to Crete in the trunk of his car, stabbed her multiple times and left her in a ditch in Crete on Monday. Springsteen was apprehended Thursday night by Flossmoor police after a tip from a local resident helped end a four-day manhunt. Area police released a notice to residents Monday night that they were searching for a "dangerous" man involved in a domestic violence incident. On Thursday, police announced Springsteen's arrest. Police Search for Homewood Man in Connection with Mother's Stabbing

Cook County Sheriff's police are searching for Blake Springsteen, 22, in connection with the beating and stabbing of his mother. Police say not to approach Springsteen and notify authorities if he is seen.

Cook County Sheriff's officers are asking for area residents' help in tracking down a Homewood man wanted in connection with the beating and stabbing of his 46-year-old mother. Blake Springsteen, 22, is suspected of beating his mother in the 3600 block of Flossmoor Road, before putting her in the trunk of his car and driving to Crete, where he allegedly stabbed her multiple times before leaving her in a ditch in the 900 block of Columbia Street. The woman was taken to an area hospital, where she is in stable condition, according to a spokesperson for the sheriff's office. Dogs Rescued from 'Face of Evil' Recovering at Chicago Heights Shelter

South Suburban Humane Society is caring for seven dogs rescued from a Dolton dog-fighting operation.

He's a dog nice enough to cuddle up on a stranger's lap. But when it comes to other dogs, Lorenzo only knows “attack,” according to Emily Klehm, the shelter's executive director. That’s because Lorenzo was raised specifically to fight other dogs for human spectacle. And that’s exactly what he was doing at an old Dolton warehouse. Eight suspects were arrested in connection with the operation after Cook County Sheriff's police received a tip about the fights. Sheriff Searching for 2 Missing Teens

Two Thornton Township girls are missing — one 15 and one 17 — and the sheriff is seeking assistance. One girl needs medication.

The Cook County sheriff is seeking the public’s assistance in locating two missing teens from unincorporated Thornton Township. Ravyn Rouse is a 15-year-old African-American girl who is 5-foot, 7-inches tall and weighs about 125 pounds. She has brown eyes and black hair.  Vondretta Johnson is a 17-year-old African-American girl who is 5-foot, 4-inches tall and weighs about 135 pounds. She also has brown eyes and black hair. Both teens were last seen together around 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, at Johnson’s residence in the 155th Block of Clyde Avenue in unincorporated Thornton Township. Heights Police Assist Sheriff in More Than 60 Arrests Along Route 30

The Sheriff's office's crime suppression operation included police from eight south suburban agencies.

Chicago Heights Police helped the Cook County Sheriff make 64 arrests earlier this month, 17 of which landed serious felony charges, officials say. The operation, which targeted crime in Chicago Heights, Ford Heights, Lynwood, Matteson, Park Forest and Sauk Village, started April 4 and continued through April 13. Police worked the targeted from 6 a.m. to midnight each day of the operation, which was coordinated by the Sheriff’s Gang Crimes Task Force. Aside from the arrests, police seized more than $50,000 in drugs, which included a cannabis, cocaine, prescription drugs and ecstasy pills, along with drug paraphernalia, according to police. Police also recovered false identification, fraudulent credit cards and four illegal firearms. A Sorry Sight at Homewood Memorial Gardens

Caskets with bodies were stacked and unburied until the Cook County Sheriff stepped in this weekend. NBC 5 and the Chicago Tribune were on the story.

News reporters were in the south suburbs on Saturday covering another misstep in the handling of the deceased at Homewood Memorial Gardens cemetery in Thornton, where 11 coffins with bodies inside were found stacked atop one another. The Cook County Sheriff intervened and oversaw the burials, according to NBC Channel 5's Christian Farr and the Chicago Tribune's John Byrne. The bodies were left unattended for up to a week, according to Byrne: Dwayne Cook discovered the bodies in the chapel Wednesday while trying to visit the gravesite of a friend, Hershal Jordan, who had an internment ceremony at the cemetery earlier this week.
