UPDATE: Lincoln-Way East's Kelly Sterling Voted Patch MVP

Lincoln-Way East girls golf standout Kelly Sterling outpolled 11 others in voting for Patch MVP, Sept. 30-Oct. 7. Sterling is now eligible for Patch Athlete of the Month honors in October.

Homewood-Flossmoor goalkeeper Nick Parker continues to be a shining star in the nets for the Vikings. He also was a shining star in voting for Patch's MVP, Sept. 17-23. Parker is now eligible for Patch Athlete of the Month honors.

UPDATE: Bloom Township's Justus Brantley is Patch MVP

Brantley came up with monster performance in the Blazing Trojans' 38-6 football victory over Fenton. He rushed for 233 yards and three touchdowns. He also scored on an 85-yard punt return. Brantley's handy work help Bloom Township boost its record to 3-1.

Bloom Township's Kendall McGinnis Wins Patch MVP Award

Kendall McGinnis connected on a Hail Mary pass to lift Bloom past Thornwood 20-14 in the Trojans' football opener. Then, he outpolled 10 others in fan balloting for Patch MVP, Aug. 20-26. McGinnis now is eligible for Patch Athlete of the Month honors.

Vote for the Chicago Heights Athlete of the Year (Round Two)

With the 2011-2012 school year over, it's time to give some standout high school athletes a standing ovation.

Week one is over and, with more than 300 votes, Gina Narcisi of the Bloom Township High School girls soccer team was the winner. Gina was humble and supportive of her fellow Trojans as the votes kept going her way. Her mother Celia told us, via Facebook, that Gina felt bad for being ahead in votes because she thinks Kaleb Williams is the better athlete. Great sportsmanship from a great young lady. All of the athletes on all of the sports teams at both schools deserve kudos for giving their all throughout the year. Vote for the Chicago Heights Athlete of the Year (Round One)

With the 2011-2012 school year over, it's time to decide which high school athletes deserve a standing ovation.

It was a long school year with athletic highs for both of the Chicago Heights high school athletic programs.  Bloom Township District 206 saw the Blazing Trojans basketball team get closer to the Class 4A Basketball Championship than it's been in years. Ths district's track team also took third place in the state in the 4 x 400, with Kaleb Williams taking third in the 400-meter dash. As for Marian Catholic, the school won it's first Class 3A baseball championship just a few weeks ago, while the Spartan volleyball team made the state semi-finals. All of the athletes on all of the sports teams at both schools deserve kudos for giving their all throughout the year. Now is your chance to support those athletes one more time.  We'll be doing …
