May 10: For some mornings, it's better just to sleep in. Jacalyn Harvey-Jaconetty, 52, of the 7400 block of Choctaw Road, Palos Heights, was charged with driving under the influence, leaving the scene of a crash and improper parking on the roadway, according to a report. Police responded at a about 9:20 a.m. to reports of a driver hitting several mailboxes. Witnesses stopped the vehicle in the 12800 block of South Winnebago Road, according to the report. The driver, Harvey-Jaconetty, appeared lethargic and had a strong odor of alcohol coming from her. She was taken to the hospital for treatment. Bail was set at $1,500. SUNDAY, MAY 12 A 47-inch rental TV was taken from a home in the first block of Forest Avenue, according to a report. The owner left the house at about 8 a.m. and returned to find the TV missing from the upstairs bedroom. Police could not find any signs of forced entry. Neighbors said they did not notice anything suspicious. WEDNESAY, MAY 8 Police responded at about 1:29 a.m. to the 1100 block of Grant Avenue, according to a report. A window was shattered, allowing access to the basement. The victim looked through the house and could not find anything missing. Police were unable to speak with any neighbors. South Suburban DUI Arrests, May 19

The National Transportation Safety Board is recommending the DUI alcohol limit be lowered to 0.05 ... not that it would do any good for the people on this week's list of Southland DUIs.

  NEW LENOX May 9: Alejandro Aguillon, 22, of the 100 block of Branchaw Boulevard, New Lenox, was charged with driving under the influence, making an improper turn and speeding, according to a report. Police stopped Aguillon at about 2:13 a.m. near the intersection of Cedar Road and Terry Ellen Lane. Aguillon was allegedly found under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested and released after posting bond. ORLAND PARK April 24: Brian J. Windt, 38, of the 15600 block of Larkspun Lane, Orland Park, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08 and speeding, according to a report. Windt was on his way home at about 1:20 a.m. from drinking at the House of Blues when he was spotted …

TUESDAY, MAY 7 Chicago Heights police responded to a burglar alarm at about 3:57 p.m. in the 400 block of East 22nd Street, according to a report. Officers found a rear porch door open and the door frame damaged. The alarm was shut off but the victim was unable to determine if anyone had broken into the apartment. Nothing was reported stolen. SUNDAY, MAY 5 Electronics, shoes and jewelry were reported stolen from an apartment in the 1600 block of Hanover Street, according to a report. The victim had locked the door to the entryway at about noon when he left. When he returned at 12:15 p.m., he found the door open and several rooms of the apartment ransacked. Police stopped at car for speeding at about 3:01 a.m. near the intersection of Laraway Road and Stonebridge Drive. Cosgrove was arrested after an investigation by police. He posted bond and was released. May 4: Jose Fuentes-Jimenez, 31, of the first block of Calle Regina Medina, Guaynabo, Puerto Rico, was charged with driving under the influence, driving without insurance, disobeying a traffic control device and speeding, according to a report. WEDNESDAY, MAY 1 Nearly $2,000 worth of jewelry was reported stolen from a home where the owner had been away on an extended vacation, according to a report. The homeowner left for Florida on Jan. 1 and returned May 1 to her house in the 1000 block of Ashland Avenue. Family members were keeping an eye on the place but it was unclear when they last checked. Windows were found opened and muddy footprints were discovered in the house. MONDAY, APRIL 29 Burglars forced their way into a home in the 1200 block of Vincennes Avenue and took clothing and a safe, according to a report. A neighbor who refused to give his name provided a description of two suspects to police. He told officers the men walked east after breaking into the house. SATURDAY…

  EVERGREEN PARK April 26: Christine Y. Blades, 46, of the 200 block of South Torrence Avenue in Sauk Village, was charged with driving under the influence, failing to dim headlights, using unsafe equipment and driving with a defective window, according to a report. Blades was stopped at about 12:11 a.m., near 98th Street and Western Avenue, after an officer noticed the vehicle's bright headlights were on. The officer also reported seeing sparks coming from the rear of the vehicle and believed the car's axle might have been broken. Police reported smelling a strong odor of alcohol on the driver's breath and noticed that two airbags inside the car had deployed. SUNDAY, APRIL 21 A man left his apartment in the first block of Olympic Village to help a friend and returned at about 9:25 a.m. to find his front door forced open, according to a report. His wallet and a leather jacket were stolen. John D. Williams, 45, was charged with disorderly conduct, according to a report. Police said Williams is homeless. He was arrested after someone who lives in the 500 block of Minette Lane called police. He told officers Williams was banging on his front door and wouldn't go away. A woman who lives in the first block of Olympic Village found her apartment door forced open, according to a report. She left the apartment on April 19 and returned on April 21 and discovered "major damage" to her apartment door. An …

Strange things happen on the road. One driver reportedly moved in "slow motion" during a traffic stop. Another dropped a few "F-bombs." Read the reports in this week's roundup of Southland DUI arrests.

CHICAGO HEIGHTS April 17: Angelica M. Stevenson, 32, of the 4200 block of Lindenwood Drive, Matteson, was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, DUI with a blood-alcohol level greater than 0.08, failing to yield to an emergency vehicle and driving without a license, according to a report. Stevenson was stopped at about 4:31 a.m. near 1000 E. 14th St. after her car failed to yield for an emergency vehicle. An officer noted the driver had bloodshot eyes and a smell of alcohol on her breath. Stevenson took field sobriety tests and a breath test before she was arrested. THURSDAY, APRIL 11 Police were called at about 1:14 p.m. to a burglary in progress at a home in the 1100 block of Emerald Avenue, according to a report. Two people on the second floor heard banging in the basement. When they went to check it out, they found a man in his 20s carrying a black duffel bag. The burglar ran away when they approached. Copper pipes were missing from the basement, causing water to leak out. Three men in dark clothing were seen leaving a home at about 8:15 p.m. in the 500 block of West 16th Street and carrying a $600 television set, according to a report. A witness told police two of the men fled through some nearby woods and the third drove off in a silver or grey vehicle. No arrests were reported. SATURDAY, APRIL …
