Poll: Is Jesse Jackson Jr. Still a Shoo-in for Re-election?

The Second District congressman has been absent from the campaign trail for two months and is having possibly the most difficult year of his career. Can he still win?

Congressman Jesse Jackson Jr. seems to have everything going against him this election year. He is at the center of a Congressional Ethic Committee investigation, his former fundraiser has been arrested and charged with bribery and he's been a ghost for the past two months. To top it all off, Jackson was diagnosed with bipolar II last week.  Regardless, one of Chicago's top political analysts, Dick Simpson, has Jackson getting 50 to 60 percent of the vote this November. The 17-year United States representative is expected to keep his seat.  The reason? Simpson pointed to weak opposition. Jackson's opponents, Republican Brian Woodworth and Independent Marcus Lewis have both commented on Simpson's prediction and neither seems to be shaken in…

Vote: Which Questions Will Mayor Gonzalez Answer Friday?

Vote for the question you feel is most important and let us know why in the comments.

After a week of commenting, questioning and a little arguing, there are now 18 questions to ask Mayor David Gonzalez. A lot went into to determining which questions would go into the poll. Let me know if I somehow missed a question that was important to you by commenting on this article.  I'll be interviewing Mayor Gonzalez in his office at City Hall on Friday, Aug. 3, so voting will be going on until midnight on Thursday, Aug. 2.   Vote for the best question and I will select the top five or six to ask the mayor this Friday. Please dump that train question. Trains blow their horns at crossings because it's the law. If they didn't blow their horn and hit someone or something, they'd get sued out the wazzoo. It's a liability and legal issue for them, a safety issue for everyone else.   more ›
