Three longtime Chicago Heights firefighters earned new titles this week, as they were promoted at City Hall in the council chambers. Deputy City Clerk Rachel Vega commenced a swearing-in ceremony Monday morning at City Hall. Two Chicago Heights cops went from sergeants to lieutenants as recommended by Chief Charles A. Guiliani, Jr.
Two longtime Chicago Heights policemen were sworn-in as lieutenants at a ceremony Friday morning at City Hall, according to a press release from the City of Chicago Heights. Thomas B. Rogers and Keith A. Applequist went from sergeants to lieutenants, after a recommendation from Police Chief Charles A. Guiliani, Jr. and confirmation from the Chicago Heights Police and Fire Board. “This is more than just two sergeants being promoted because they finished first and second on the eligibility list," Guiliani said. A few Chicago Heights policemen enjoyed the company of their family friends as they received new titles Friday in a special ceremony at City Hall. Five promotions were approved by the Chicago Heights Fire and Police Board. Three sergeants became lieutenants: Two officers became sergeants: Mayor David Gonzalez congratulated the group and pointed out the importance of determination over all else.
