Heights Man Swaps Places with Passenger While Driving: Police

It appears Marcos Villarreal was trying to avoid being arrested when he pulled off surprising stunt in the front seat of his car, according to police.

Marcos Villarreal, 30, of the 100 block of E 23rd Street in Chicago Heights received a slew of charges, including endangering the life of a child, after pulling a daring stunt while driving. Homewood Police say they attempted to pull Villarreal over near the 18700 block of Halsted Street after running his plates and learning he has a suspended license. Instead of pulling over, Villarreal continued driving and managed to swap places with the passenger, according to reports. Police Blotter: Parent Drives Through School Playground

Chicago Heights police reports, May 25-26.

SATURDAY, MAY 26 A security guard at FedEx Freight on Joe Orr Road told police he learned an employee had been stealing. A witness told police the employee in question removed a bottle of George Dickel Tennessee whiskey from an open box on a pallet being prepared for shipment. The employee admitted to taking a sip of the whiskey and was immediately terminated from his position, according to the report. He was also told he would be arrested if he returned to the property, police said. FRIDAY, MAY 25 A District 170 employee told police a Ford Escort sped through the playground at Washington-McKinley School with children present. Police: Woman Leads Cops on Chase, Crashes into Cruiser

The Homewood woman didn't stop for pedestrians or cars on her March 14 trip around the north end of Chicago Heights, according to police.

Chicago Heights Police were controlling traffic at the scene of a car accident near the intersection of Vollmer and Chicago roads, when a Homewood woman caught their attention. Marissa L. Bell-Taylor, 18, of the 18200 block of Hart Drive, was arrested and charged with reckless driving after police saw her speed past emergency vehicles, going 60 mph in a 30 mph zone, according to the report. Bell-Taylor continued at the same speed for three blocks even as police followed her with emergency lights and sirens on, police said. Bell-Taylor then entered a parking lot at Prairie State College and continued at 50 mph without slowing or yielding to pedestrians who were heading into the school, police said. Police: Road Rage Chase Endangered Children at Thornwood Apartments

An Oak Forest man and a Steger man were charged in the Aug. 26 incident in Chicago Heights.

Two men were arrested after their reckless driving endangered several Chicago Heights children at an area apartment complex on Aug. 26, Chicago Heights police said. Steger resident Rafael Miranda, 46, became angry after Randell G. Kasten, 47, of Oak Forest, got into an altercation with Miranda's adult son at the intersection of Joe Orr Road and Halsted Street, according to the police report. Kasten attempted to pepper-spray Miranda's son, upsetting the Steger man who then chased Kasten's car into the parking lot of Thornwood Apartments at 19460 Chicago Heights-Glenwood Road, police said.
