1 Dead in Weekend Liquor Store Shooting; Police Investigating Witness Accounts

No arrests have been made in the Friday night shooting outside K & N Liquors in Chicago Heights. One man was killed and two others were treated for leg wounds.

Police continue to search for information about a shooting Friday night outside of a Chicago Heights liquor store in which one man was killed and two others were wounded. Joshua Garcia, 18, of South Chicago Heights, was pronounced dead after he was taken to St. James Hospital, police said. The two other men were treated for gunshot wounds to the legs. Investigators have interviewed several witnesses and are looking for more to piece together what happened at about 9:12 p.m. outside K & N Liquors, 2301 Chicago Road, police said. No arrests have been made. The Chicago Heights Police Department Detective Division and the South Suburban Major Crime Task Force are working together on the investigation. Police Investigating Shooting Near Liquor Store

Gunshots were heard by neighbors near 23rd Street and Chicago Road in Chicago Heights late Friday night.

Chicago Heights police are investigating a shooting near the intersection of 23rd Street and Chicago Road. Officers taped off the parking lot near K&N Market and Wine, 2301 Chicago Rd. and had blocked the southbound lane of Chicago Road Friday night. Neighbors said they heard 4 or 5 loud gunshots after 9 p.m. Four ambulances were called for multiple gunshot victims, according to an unconfirmed report. Check back with Patch for more information. Cops Searching for 'Armed and Dangerous' Man Wanted in Shooting

A Matteson man believed responsible for shooting a Beverly man multiple times remains at large. Police are asking the public to be alert.

Chicago police are on the lookout for a Matteson man described as “armed and dangerous” in connection with a Beverly shooting on Wednesday, Sun-Times Media reports. The alleged shooter is 29-year-old David Twine. Police say he may be driving a black 2012 Cadillac SRX with Illinois license plate P24450, according to the report. The shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. May 15 in the foyer of an apartment building on the 9900 block of South Walden Parkway in Beverly, police said. A man in his 30s was shot multiple times and transported to Advocate Christ Hospital. He was in critical, but stable condition as of last night, according to Ald. Two Teens Plead Not Guilty to Charges in Fatal Shooting

Two of five teens charged with several felonies in connection to a fatal shooting in a Chicago Heights park pleaded not guilty in a Markham courtroom on Tuesday, Dec. 18. The other three are scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday.

Two teens charged in connection to a shooting that killed a 17-year-old Chicago boy have entered not guilty pleas Tuesday, Dec. 18. Mikah Darko, 17, was shot near 15th and Hanover streets and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. Witnesses told police Darko was in the park when two men approached him and started shooting.  The grand jury handed down an indictment for the five defendants on Friday, Nov. 30 in a Markham courtoom. Rhonzell F. Teens Indicted in Connection to Fatal Shooting in Heights Park

Five teens have been charged with several felonies, including mob action and armed violence, related to an incident where another teen was fatally shot in a Chicago Heights park.

Five teenagers will be arraigned later this month on various charges after a Chicago teen was shot and killed in a Chicago Heights park, a spokesman with the Cook County State's Attorney's Office confirmed Wednesday, Dec. 5. Mikah Darko, 17, was shot near 15th and Hanover streets and was pronounced dead at the scene, according to police. Witnesses told police Darko was in the park when two men approached him and started shooting.  The grand jury handed down an indictment for the five defendants on Friday, Nov. 30 in a Markham courtoom. A grand jury will decide this week whether to indict five teenagers charged in connection to the shooting death of a Chicago teen in a Chicago Heights park.

The case against five teens charged in connection to the shooting death of another teen in a Chicago Heights park will go to a grand jury, an attorney for one of the teens said after a hearing Monday. Mikah Darko, a 17-year-old Chicago man, was shot and killed in a Chicago Heights park, according to Chicago Heights police. The shooting occurred near 15th and Hanover streets Saturday night.
