Homeless Woman Arrested After 16-Hour Standoff with Police

Police were called at 11 a.m. Friday and remained in a standoff with the woman until 3:30 a.m. Saturday.

Olympia Fields police arrested a homeless woman after she was threatened a relative at gunpoint Friday, Sun-Times Media reports.   The incident occurred in a home in the 3200 block of London Drive in Olympia Fields, police told reporter Casey Toner. A family member told police the 55-year-old woman was complaining about "excessive noise" as she brandished the gun, according to Cook County sheriff’s police spokesman Frank Bilecki. The same family member told police the woman had a history of "mental illness and violent behavior," Bilecki added.
