'Star Island': A Tale of a Troubled Pop Star on a Downward Spiral
Carl Hiaasen's latest work of fiction takes a step into the life of a starlet's look alike.
I really didn't think much of Star Island when I first saw it. But then patrons started requesting it time and time again, so I decided to check it out. I was glad I did. This is the type of book you can read a few chapters or pages and put down to do something else, and then pick right back up. It doesn't really require a lot of thought; it is one of those rare gems that is just fun to read. Star Island follows Cherry Pye, a 22-year-old pop princess who is trying to stage a comeback with her new album. Between being in rehab, drunk or strung out on drugs, Cherry Pye isn't doing too well.
