Chicago Heights Man Charged with Stealing Vehicle After Sunday Carjacking
Cory D. Williams, 24, of the 1400 block of Edgewood in Chicago Heights, was arrested and charged after police said he stole a car and crashed it about a block away from the incident.
A Chicago Heights man was charged with possession of a stolen vehicle Sunday night after carjacking a vehicle left unlocked and running with a 14-year-old inside. Cory D. Williams, 24, of the 1400 block of Edgewood in Chicago Heights, was arrested after he crashed the vehicle and ran from the scene, Glen Ellyn Police Deputy Chief Bill Holmer said. A man left his vehicle running while he went inside a convenience store at 1184 Roosevelt Road around 5 p.m. Williams told the child left inside the vehicle to get out and proceeded to drive west on Roosevelt Road, Holmer said in a news release.
