Since she was seven years old, Danielle knew she wanted to be a journalist.

It started with a love for writing. She would write in her journal everyday. She wrote poetry and short stories. At first, she wrote about her feelings, but then she wrote about what she saw, what she heard. Her godfather advised her to become a journalist because of her skills with writing and reporting.

Since then, she's pursued that dream.

Danielle was born on the Southside of Chicago, Ill. In elementary school, she wrote short stories and poetry. She attended Seton Academy in South Holland, Ill for high school. At Seton, she wrote for the newspaper, yearbook, and competed in the speech team. By her senior year, she was editor-in-chief of the newspaper, yearbook section head, copywriter and copyeditor and speech team captain.

She came to Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in journalism. Since her sophomore year, she's written for the IU School of Journalism at IUPUI publication.

In the summer of 2009, she interned with Indianapolis local author, John F. Whorley as a book reviewer. Danielle wrote and reviewed college guidebooks for his book. In the fall of 2010, she interned with Indianapolis WTHR Channel 13 as a part-time news intern. She wrote 30 second stories for producers, performed on the spot interviews, and edited video. Since January 2011, she has interned with HerStory Network and Goddess Girl Magazine both based out of Chicago. For HerStory Network, she writes personality profiles about women making an impact. For Goddess Girl Magazine, she writes feature stories and edits feature stories for the publication.

In addition to these four internships during her four years at IUPUI, she has also been an active student leader. She has been a Resident Assistant for Housing and Residence Life, Director of Social Justice for the Undergraduate Student Government, Events Co-Chair for the Black Student Union, Black Affair Chair for the National Society of Black Engineers, and Secretary for the Society of Professional Journalists.

Her senior year, she helped found a student chapter at IUPUI of the National Association of Black Journalists. She helped to establish the foundation of the organization and created the chapter mission statement. She also served as president.

She graduated from IUPUI with a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and a minor in Spanish this August. Now entering her career, she plans to finally turn her dream into reality.
